Pearl of the Day: Ride Away
I was listening to Kris Allen sing the song (originally written by the Irish band The Script) whose title is an amazing pearl, “Live like You’re Dying” (watch the video) and was struck.
Every moment we live brings us closer to our death. Yet we often don’t live it up in the precious moments we have. There are a million reasons for not being fully committed to the present as life’s “distractions” are just another part of living.
Every so often you need to stop for a moment and ponder Sophie Chiche’s, CEO & Founder of Life By Me, favorite question - What is meaningful to you?
Such was the question - well actually, the question that you ultimately ask after thinking if you knew you only had 1 month to live, how would you spend it? - that my friends had a ball tossing around possible scenarios.
Would you be gentle on your body and be in lotus pose praying in a sacred place? Or, go out like a bad ass looting, plundering and pillaging? Or, go all glutton sin style and chow down burgers, fries & chocolate peanut butter milkshakes until you bust a gut? Or, pack it up and head for hills? Or, travel to all those pegs on your map you’ve yet to visit? Or, would the last remnant of you be a cartoon outline on the door as you rush towards your fate in a mad sheer doomsday panic?
Seeking answers to what means most to you can be paralyzing if not painstaking. The lyrics in my new favorite song also ask - “So if you’re life flashed before you, what would you wish you would have done?”
If knowing the end is near changes your equation in how you live your life then perhaps a shift is in order. Perhaps this overarching reality brings us closer to our authentic selves and wanting to further live life with purpose.
So what are your reasons for living?
If you are waiting for an invitation, consider yourself cordially invited to fill every moment of your life with meaning.
Chew on that while I go grab some chocolate. ;)
